FULL STOP ? 3 Lessons learned.

I gave a live presentation 2 days ago and during my monologue, a little piece of dust ended up in my throat and made me sound like a frog

🐸

That's not funny, it actually happened. But all eyes were on me, so what to do ??

I tried to cough, clear my throat, swallow extra, but it didn't work.

Finally I had to stop the presentation and ask for some water. I took a bit of time, sipped some water, the flock of dust went away and I could speak again.

MY LESSONS:

1. TRUST THAT YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO. Your mind may go beserk and panic. Listen to that little voice in you that gives you a solution. This takes experience and trust in yourself to handle unexpected situations. You want to start learning this as fast as possible.

2. STAY IN YOUR ROLE. On a stage you have the role of an authority. Don't lose that by starting to panic. The way you handle yourself in a 'crisis' situation gives you massive credibility and trust.

3. DON'T APOLOGIZE. You did nothing wrong, something out of your control happened, you handled it and moved on. Exactly what your audience expect you to do. Apologizing on the obvious makes you lose trust.

It can be scary to experience something out of your control and you have to do a full stop. Stay calm, you know what to do. Trust in that
